Another reason why you would defend your client no matter he or she is guilty or not, is the code of ethics a good lawyer should have; “Its responsibility of the lawyer to work for the best of its client. It is within our justice system and values as a society”.

In our opinion, the different code of ethics that rule the world are basic for the well-being of all of us. In fact, all the different codes of ethics have several things in common, these things are the ones that define us as; Human beings.

And so, for that, as human beings, we are not perfect at all. And taking that into account mistakes, crimes, and felonies can happen and in fact they do. So, the lawyer’s role in all of this is trying to transform those bad actions into constructive and enricher experiences, not only for their clients, but also for our society. Because there is nothing better than having a second chance in life.

DO YOU STILL NEED MORE REASONS TO DEFEND YOUR CLIENT NO MATTER WHAT?

VOCATION

Have you ever heard about the word “vocation”? Let me introduce you to this word that comes from the old Latin. Its first meaning was the action of calling, as a general way of expressing the encounter of two different callings; Gods’ calling and the humans’ freedom of answering back.

Well, this meaning has evolved a lot but it has always kept the Latin essence. That’s why nowadays we can define vocation as; The strong feeling and conviction of doing something, the passion of becoming part of something bigger that you.

What is your vocation? Why are you a lawyer? Is it a part of your vocation to denfend the defendless?

Vocation is what makes a lawyer great, making him or her stay faithful to their thoughts and values, eliminating prejudices and looking always forward to achieve the best solution for their clients needs.

How it works

Complicated, right? Let us help you a bit. In a lawyers’ world, guiltiness is nothing else but another part of our job. We are used to deal with guiltiness… my client, your client, my father and even yours could be declared guilty sometime in their life of many things. But does that mean that that person doesn’t deserve to have the most constructive and less detrimental punishment he or she could receive? If the answer is yes, keep reading. If it’s no, keep reading too… we might change your mind breaking a few stereotypes.

My client might be guilty

Why would I defend my client if I think he is guilty?

Why would I defend my client if I think he is guilty? First, have a seat, get yourself comfortable, because probably what you are going to realize while reading the line below this one is going to change your perspective of why did you became a lawyer.

Now that you are relaxed, let us ask you a controversial question...

What is guiltiness for you?

PREJUDICES?

If you want to be a good lawyer (or person) you should farewell these big troublemakers. Prejudices were invented for trying to cover all human insecurities and to avoid facing our real problems by always blaming them on others. Prejudices are the cancer of society, they slow our growth and our progress and feed our passiveness, self-mindless and cowardice.

As the proverb says; “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. No one likes seafood by its appearance, but have you ever gave it a chance? If you haven’t, you definitely should (unless you are allergic… but you got the message, don’t you?).

Cactus hide and save water on their inside, so why don’t you give your client a chance? Someday this will come back to you.

No one is perfect, nor are you. Acceptance is the key to success. There are plenty situations in life when we need to take a step back and realize that even though the situation is not the one we had de desire of, we need to accept it and respect it. If we achieve that, success is guaranteed.

Acceptance should always be followed by respect, and with both, you will exile “tolerance” that is nothing else but a fake feeling of acceptance and respect.

Do it for your client, and you will be doing it for yourself as well. Acceptance grows you as a person and will help you to battle frustration.

AND IN ANY CASE, WHETHER YOUR CLIENT IS GUILTY OR NOT, YOU ARE GOING TO GET PAID ANYWAY....SO JUST DO IT
